Vadodara: The stardom of Salman Khan gave Barodians a perfect Sunday treat when the Bollywood star crisscrossed the cultural capital of Gujarat, drawing thousands of fans on the campaign trail of Congress candidate Satyajit Gaekwad. A crowd of as huge as 60,000 kept following him wherever the star went.
The road show started from 'Uma char rasta' at Waghodia and passed through areas like Waghodia road, Tandalja, Rajmahal road, and Manjalpur. At Waghodia, the Congress had put up a stage where patriotic songs such as 'E mere vatan ke logo...'
It kept playing. The Salman magic did not deter overenthusiastic Barodians from hitting the road in the scorching heat. They waited for hours to take a glimpse of their favourite actor. People of all ages were excited to see him. Girls were ready with roses for Salman. Komal Joshi, a student, had brought an album of the star's photos, which she gave him. "I am a die-hard Salman fan and I am too excited to see him,'' she told DNA.
Not just young girls but even middle-aged women showered the star with flying kisses, accompanied by loud phrases like "Salman, I love you, you are mine, you rock." The road show was more of a 'Salman Show' as people were more interested in Salman than Congress candidate Gaekwad. Not only he kept greeting his fans, he also kept bowing his head whenever he would see a temple or mosque or a church.
When DNA asked people who they were following, the reply was obvious. "I am following Salman Khan," said Bhargav Jani, a student. .......... |
